ALMA, MI – Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence, a leading Alma family dental office, recently held a special event to give away thousands of dollars in free dental services to local residents.
Free Dental Day is a Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence program that provides free cleanings, fillings and extractions to dental patients 18 or older. Each person who participates in the event receives their choice of one of the three dental services.
“We set aside a whole day to treat patients who do not have access to regular dental care, and it’s one of the most rewarding days of the year for us,” said Dr. Thomas McDonald, who operates Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence. “As dental professionals, we hope to make a difference in someone’s life every day, so we’re proud to host Free Dental Day every year.”
Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence hosts the free day of dentistry every September. This year, the Alma dental practice treated 26 patients and gave away $5,515 in dental services. Dr. McDonald said the the staff joins with local businesses to put on Free Dental Day.
“Free Dental Day is a great chance for our community to come together to help those in need,” Dr. McDonald said. “It’s gratifying to see so many new smiling faces.”
Dr. McDonald is originally from Detroit and has been practicing dentistry in Michigan for more than 30 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and served as the president of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. He graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 1985, and then opened his first dental practice in Royal Oak in 1987.
Dr. McDonald practiced in Royal Oak until 2005, when he sold his practice and opened Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence in Alma. Throughout his time in dentistry, Dr. McDonald has made a commitment to exploring the latest technology and treatment techniques. With his decades of experience and training and expert dental team, Dr. McDonald now offers same-day dental crowns, sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, orthodontics, sleep apnea treatment and even endodontics.
Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence uses mini dental implants to help patients stabilize dentures. This service — Red, White and Blue Aligners — uses a series of clear aligners to move teeth into a better position. This orthodontic system is similar to Invisalign but is often more affordable.
