Simple Smile Solutions With Restorative Dentistry

veneers_3 Alma, MI Dentist | Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence

Many times when we talk about restorative dentistry, we focus on big problems. Full-mouth reconstruction and implant-supported dentures come to mind.

But sometimes restorative dentistry can deal with smaller issues, which may help to prevent those bigger problems.

Dental bonding, dental veneers, and dental crowns are great examples of small fixes that can restore your smile. Call 989-796-4848 or use our online form to contact our dentist office in Alma, MI, if you think our services could help you.

We will explain each of them below. Our team at Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence would be happy to help you with any of them.

Dental Bonding & Dental Fillings

We are grouping these treatments together because they use the same material — a composite resin. As in many fields, technology continues to make dentistry better and better. Tooth-colored fillings are a great example of this.

Before, people had to get gold or amalgam (a blend of mercury and other metals) to fill cavities in their teeth. While this was an effective way to restore the function of a tooth, it wasn’t always great for the appearance of your smile.

With our composite fillings, you can repair your tooth and restore your smile at the same time. You will probably find that most people won’t know which of your teeth has the filling unless you point it out to them.

While fillings are used to fill cavities, dental bonding is a way to repair chipped teeth, teeth that have been worn down, and teeth with small cracks. The bonding material can build back what was missing while blending in with the rest of your smile.

Call 989-796-4848 to learn about either of these restorative services.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are often mentioned as part of cosmetic dentistry. There’s no question that veneers can make your teeth look nicer. A set of veneers can make teeth that are crooked, gapped, and yellow into a smile that is straight, evenly spaced, and pearly white.

So how can veneers help with restorative dental care?

If you have multiple chipped teeth, veneers may be the most effective way to fix them. Like dental bonding, veneers also can be used to repair worn-down teeth.

Veneers also can be used in place of enamel that has been worn away. This can add a layer of protection for your teeth and restore their appearance at the same time.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a great tool for repairing teeth that have been damaged.

A dental filling may not be enough to fix a large cavity. By removing the remaining decay and reshaping the healthy parts of the tooth, we can bond a dental crown in place. This will restore the usefulness of your tooth and give you a natural-looking smile as well.

We can use a similar process to repair a tooth that has be broken as a result of an accident. And if your tooth has a crack, then a dental crown may be the best way to prevent the crack from getting worse.

In the event of a tooth infection, you may need a root canal to remove the infected parts. During this procedure, we will seal the tooth to reduce the risk of another infection. More often than not, a dental crown is the best option for this.

We also use CEREC to create our crowns in our office. By having our own milling machine, you don’t have to wait for weeks to get your dental crown. We can create it at Mid-Michigan Dental Excellence and bond it to your tooth in a single visit in many cases.
